Blendtec Has Viewers Waiting.

On May 26, 2011 Blendtec put out another video. And they have subscribers just waiting for them (I’m one of those people). As of 4:00 PM on May 27th the video had been viewed 51,612 times.

They’ve added entertainment to the promotion of their product. The work on a KISS basis (Keep It Simple Stupid). And the videos are short and sweet.

700 Billion Views

In 2010 more that 13 million hours of video content were uploaded and 700 billion video views took place on YouTube. That’s 1.9 billion videos viewed per day.

Growth exploded in 2010. As the year went by YouTube announced in March that more than 24 hours of content were being uploaded ever minute. And by May, YouTube had surpassed over 2 billion video views per day.

Changes To Gain More Traffic

Social media as a whole is continuing to expand in astronomical proportions. Facebook went over 500 million users in 2010. And Twitter signed on more that 1 million new users. And nobody shows any sign of slowing down.

In December YouTube has been experimenting with new home page layouts. Today, when I logged into YouTube, I was given the option to try a new page. It took me to a page that read:

YouTube, like other social media businesses, is focused on continued rapid growth for their services. Businesses need to keep this in mind when planning their 2011 marketing. It is becoming a communication tool that can clearly communicate a message.

Cisco Systems Prediction

Cisco Systems is an American multinational corporation that designs and sells consumer electronic goods and networking technology. They employ 65,000 people. Their 2009 revenue was over $36 billion. I think it’s safe to bet that they know what they’re talking about.

Cisco is predicting that Internet networking traffic will quadruple by 2014. And most of that growth will be driven by online video.

The opportunity is there to get respectable and efficient videos in front of your customers. Tools like the Flip Video camera and Windows Live Movie Maker software (which may be in your computer already) make it very cost effective to put together videos about the things you sell. And when compared with text a video normally renders a more complete story about the items you are marketing.

Old Spice has taken it’s YouTube campaign VIRAL!

Sales doubled in one month for Old Spice. And a major part of the reason is the incredibly successful social media marketing campaign they have been putting on. Sales increased 107% over last month.

110 Million Requests To See Their Ads And Videos

The ads began on TV. But, when they hit YouTube, they went viral. Social media word of mouth (SOME WOM) has taken the number of views of the videos to over 110 million. That is more viewership than they get from a traditional broadcast on TV. And when people are viewing on YouTube, they are watching the video because they requested it.

YouTube reached a record high of 14.6 billion videos viewed in May of 2010. Videos are beginning to boom in their Internet usage. Video views on YouTube, Hulu, Facebook and other media totaled 30.3 billion in April of 2010. In May those views jumped to almost 34 billion! That’s more than 10% in one month!

More and more tools are coming online that enable users to produce and post videos. Many smart phones are capable. And there are several inexpensive cameras that produce quality content, like the FlipVideo cameras.
